Former Sheriff's Deputy Charged For Assault In Fairfax
An investigation determined the former deputy assaulted an inmate without weapons.

FAIRFAX, VA—A former deputy with the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office was charged Thursday for assaulting an inmate, according to police.
Police received word from the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney in February that Tenzin Kunkyab, 33, of Fairfax assaulted an inmate in December 2017 at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. A sheriff's office investigation revealed he used no weapons in the physical attack.
Police got an arrest warrant Thursday morning, and Kunkyab turned himself in at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He faces a simple assault charge and was released on his own recognizance.
