Girl Scout Troop and 95 Express Lanes Plants Trees at Burke United Methodist Church
Troop members and leaders help beautify a church in Burke, Virginia.

On Saturday, November 15, 2014, Burke United Methodist Church gained 22 beautiful new trees on their property. The tree planting was made possible with the help of Girl Scout Troop 6115, their leaders and representatives from the 95 Express Lanes project.
Girl Scout troop members and their leaders planted the trees between the church and the parking lot and in the back of the Burke-based church. The 95 Express Lanes project provided the trees under the 1,000 Trees in 1,000 Days program. Through the program, Transurban-Fluor is partnering with communities located near the 95 Express Lanes construction corridor and pledging to plant 1,000 trees in 1,000 days.
“We’re thrilled to be able to give back to the community by planting these trees from the 95 Express Lanes 1,000 Trees program,” said Sandy Latta, troop leader, Girl Scout Troop 6115. “The Girl Scouts planted the trees in honor of the four Girl Scout World Centers and to thank Burke Church for supporting our troop.”
