Greenspring retirement community in Springfield, Va. was recently presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Alzheimer's Association.
In 2013, Greenspring served as a Gold sponsor for a local Alzheimer's Association walk held on September 29 at Reston Town Center. At that walk, Greenspring produced one of the largest groups of participants for the walk with over 100 residents and employees of the community. Greenspring's sister community, Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, Va., was a Bronze sponsor and also supported the walk with over 100 participants of their own. Just two days before the local walk, Greenspring also sponsored their own community walk for those unable to attend on the 29th.
A new addition in 2013, Greenspring's Intermissions program worked to create prayer flags for the walk in memory of those affected by Alzheimer's. The Intermissions program supports residents with memory loss and their caregivers by providing a social environment with daily activities for the mind and body.
