Kings Park Fire Injures Firefighter, Displaces 4 People
No residents were injured when a fire started in a second floor townhouse bedroom, according to the fire department.
FAIRFAX, VA — A fire in the Kings Park West area displaced four residents and injured a firefighter on Saturday, April 11, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
Units from Fairfax County and Fairfax City responded to the 4700 block of Gainsborough Drive around 10:03 p.m. to find fire showing from the second floor. One resident was home at the time and encountered the fire in a bedroom. The resident evacuated after attempting to extinguish the fire and called 911.
Firefighters encountered a small extension of the fire into the townhouse and adjacent townhouse's attic. A City of Fairfax firefighter was injured. No resident injuries were reported.

Investigators say the cause of the fire was an electrical event in a lamp in a second floor bedroom. The fire department estimated damages to be $124,250.
The displaced residents declined Red Cross assistance.
