Lake Braddock Football Faces Stern Test Friday

The Bruins are No. 7 in the latest Washington Post rankings, but visiting neighborhood rival Robinson checks in at No. 20.

BURKE, VA — Following a couple of blowout wins to open its season, Lake Braddock's football team finally gets a dangerous opponent tonight at 7 when it plays host to neighborhood rival Robinson.

Robinson (2-0) is No. 20 in the latest Washington Post high school football rankings while the Bruins are No. 7.

Lake Braddock won last season's encounter 21-14 but the Rams nonetheless managed to pretty much hold the visitors' powerful game in check, with tailback Lamont Atkins held to 62 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

The game is one three D.C.-area games featured in Friday's print edition of the Post.

Atkins has rushed for 330 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Robinson's Reid Scarborough has scooted to 257 yards and five touchdowns in the first two games.
