Winners In VA Congressional Races Declared In Fairfax County

While votes continue to be counted, the Associated Press declared winners in the U.S. Senate and Congressional primary races.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Even though votes continue to be counted in Tuesday's Dual Primary in Virginia, the Associated Press officially declared winners in the U.S. Senate race, as well as the 8th and 10th Congressional District Races.

With 39 percent of the votes counted, Bert Mizusawa was declared the GOP's candidate for U.S. Senate on the Nov. 3 ballot. He defeated challengers David E. Williams and Kim Farington. Mizusawa will face incumbent Senator Mark Warner (D) in November

Fairfax County voters saw different contests depending on which party's ballot they choose, as well as their congressional district. In the Democratic primary, voters in the 8th District voted in the U.S. House of Representatives contest on the ballot. There was be no Democratic primary in the 10th or 11th districts.

In the Republican primary, David Beckwith defeated Julia Anna Perry, Anthony L. Suttles and M. Sam Wong. He will go on to face incumbent Democrat Suhas Subramanyam in November.

U.S. Rep. Don Beyer was declared the victor in the 8th Congressional District race, defeating four other Democrats: Mo Seifeldein, Adam M. Dunigan, Michael Christian Duffin, and Lorena Thorne Bruner. Beyer will face Republican Tony Sabio in the general election for that district.
