Man Charged After Fatal West Springfield Shooting
Officers found the victim with a gunshot wound before he was pronounced dead at the scene.

WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA — Fairfax County Police made an arrest after a fatal shooting in a West Springfield neighborhood Tuesday.
Officers responded to the 7700 block of Bedstraw Court around 4:52 p.m. and found a victim with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers provided aid until medics arrived, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as Javon Prather, 24, of Springfield.
Police took Michael Hetle, 52, of Springfield, into custody at the scene. He was charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to the shooting. An autopsy will identify the cause and manner of death.
