New Giant Store To Open Tonight in Kings Park

A new Giant grocery store will officially open its doors this evening in the Kings Park shopping center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Giant was rebuilt from the ground up and is nearly twice as large as the previous store on the site, which closed last year, said Giant officials.

Most notably, this Giant will be among just a handful of supermarkets in the country (and the first store in the state of Virginia) to use carbon dioxide refrigerants, a cutting-edge technology that significantly decreases greenhouse gas emissions.

The new store will also include a new, market-style produce section with fresh-cut fruits and vegetables, a new self-serve coffee concept, a café seating area with complimentary Wi-Fi, and a PNC Bank.
