Next Sobriety Checkpoint Is In West Springfield This Weekend

There's another DUI checkpoint happening in the West Springfield District over the weekend.

BURKE, VA—Drunk drivers, beware: police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in the West Springfield District Saturday night.

Fairfax County Police say that the checkpoint will take place between 10 p.m. and midnight on Saturday, Sept. 9.

When Fairfax County Police conduct checkpoints, hundred of drivers pass through and are screened for alcohol use. Last year, 1,980 people were charged with driving under the influence in Fairfax County. That's an increase of over 100 from the previous year.

Police aren't revealing the exact location of the checkpoint, but remind residents to not drink and drive. In Virginia, the legal limit of blood alcohol concentration is 0.08 percent.
