Oktoberfests, Fall Festivals, and Lots of Trick-or-Treats Coming Soon

Fairfax Station Train Museum is hosting a Halloween Carnival on October 22, 2023. Join Fairfax Station Railroad Museum for their Annual Spooktacular Halloween Carnival and enjoy multiple Halloween Themed games. In addition to candy and fun, silly, and weird Halloween prizes, win tickets to place in the box of different prize baskets. There will be several to choose from and you do not need to be present to win.

Each child will receive 7 game tickets to start. Attendees may purchase additional game tickets at five (5) for $1.00 (while they last). Costumes are optional, but we love to see them. Please bring a Trick or Treat back to collect goodies. Additional instructions for the event and game play will be provided at the admissions table. Adults $6.00 (13 and above); Youth $3.00 (4 to 12); Children FREE (Under 4). Game Time is 1 pm to 4 pm. Admissions will open at 12:30 so that you can be prepared and see which games you wish to play and check out the awesome prize baskets.

Have you heard about Mason Space Day? It’s an exciting, collaborative, and engaging event, with an aim to educate the public on the technology and science behind some of the leading aerospace projects in the area. The day offers lectures from those at the forefront of space exploration and a number of organizations with hands-on space-related activities, educational information, and more. Mason Space Day is October 22, 2023 from 3 to 9 p.m. in the Center for the Arts on Mason's Fairfax Campus.

The Washington Capitals launched a Try Hockey for Free Program that offers ball hockey clinics to kids ages 5-17 in order to provide FREE access to the game for kids and families across the Washington D.C. area who have never participated in the sport before. Each participant will learn the basics of hockey (stickhandling, passing, and shooting) and will receive a hockey stick and ball to take home following the event to encourage continued development. Clinics will be held at various Washington Capitals outdoor ball hockey rinks in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. This program is designed to be an introduction to the game for the participants and the first opportunity to reach the families in our community who are looking for more affordable options to play.
