WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA — A new mural has been unveiled at the Old Keene Mill Shopping Center, topping off a renovation project in late 2019.

The shopping center's owner, Federal Realty, decided to add art to the exterior brick wall on the side of the anchoring Whole Foods store to beautify the property and highlight unity and community. The mural, which reads "we're all neighbors" was completed by artist Jessica Langley.

"We are a shopping center, but we are a neighbor first. We are rooted here, we’re going to be here, and we invite the community to join us," says Deirdre Johnson, vice president of asset management at Federal Realty. "This mural was a great opportunity for us to inject a little energy, have some fun and spread a positive message."
