Power Surge Impacts Rows Of Townhouses In Burke

Fire damage was found at two townhouses due to a power surge, according to the fire department.

BURKE, VA — Two rows of townhouses were impacted by a power surge in Burke Tuesday evening, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Fire department crews are responding to the 6700 block of Sunset Woods Court. Firefighters found two townhouses with exterior fire damage and are going door to door to check for other issues. Firefighters addressed the lack of working smoke alarms in a few homes.

The fire department worked with Dominion to control power in the neighborhood. According to Dominion Energy's outage map, at least 114 customers lost power in the area. Crews are working on the outages, and restored power is expected Tuesday night.
