Report: Family Sues Fairfax County Police Department for $12 Million for Gross Negligence in 2013 Fatal Shooting

The longtime partner of a man who died after being shot by a Fairfax County police officer is suing the police department, according to a report by The Washington Post.
Maura Harrington is suing the department, the chief of police and three unnamed officers for gross negligence and is seeking $12 million related to the Aug. 29, 2013 incident that left John Greer dead. The officer who fired the shot is reportedly on paid desk duty, the Post reported.
The incident took place in Greer’s townhouse complex in a Springfield neighborhood.
