Santa Train In Burke 2018: When, How To Get Tickets

BURKE, VA—Even if you're not thinking about Christmas yet, you might want to get an early jump on tickets to one of Northern Virginia's popular holiday events. The Virginia Railway Express will hold its annual Santa Train at Burke Centre and other stations on Saturday, Dec. 8—and tickets typically sell out fast.

Kids and their families climb aboard the train for about an hour with Santa and his helpers. Children will receive candy canes and coloring books and partake in other festivities. The ride also promotes VRE's rail safety and Operation Lifesaver’s “Look, Listen and Live” campaign.

Tickets will go on sale Monday, Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. Half of the tickets will be sold in-person and the other half online. You can either buy tickets online at vrespecialevents.org or in-person at designated vendors.

If buying online, be sure you have a VRE account before ticket sales go live. If you're buying in-person, tickets for the Burke Centre Santa Train must be bought at Supervisor John Cook's Office, 9002 Burke Lake Road, Burke.

Tickets are $5 in-person and $6 online. Cash or check will be accepted in-person. Credit cards and PayPal will be accepted online. Tickets cannot be reserved in advance of the ticket sale date.

More important details from VRE:

• All passengers, regardless of age, must have tickets. Regular VRE tickets WILL NOT be honored for this special event. Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the station the day of the event and must be purchased prior to the event.
• Santa Train Tickets are not refundable or exchangeable.
• Ticket sales are limited to 6 per person for most trains.
• After ticket sales conclude, VRE does not have available tickets.
