Senior Navy Official Charged For Allegedly Pointing Gun at Group

A senior Navy official under investigation was charged Tuesday with three misdemeanor counts of brandishing a firearm after he was caught on video pointing a gun at young men during a confrontation last month outside his suburban home in Burke, according to Fairfax County Deputy Commonwealth Attorney Robert D. McClain.

It's unclear what the repercussions will be for Karnig Ohannessian, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Environment.

Officers responded to the 6600 block of Bestwicke Court in Burke on Saturday, June 11, at around 8:13 p.m. for a report of a man brandishing a gun, according to Fairfax County police.

Police say a verbal confrontation occurred on the street, between Ohannessian and other adults that came from a nearby house, with noise being the issue.

The video shows a man, apparently Ohannessian, pointing a gun and yelling at men who mostly are off camera.

Police say the men already had left the scene by the time they arrived but one man reported the incident to authorities.
