BURKE, VA — The pandemic has resulted in Burke's largest festival being cancelled for 2020. The Burke Centre Festival would have happened during the weekend of Sept. 12 and 13.

The festival was canceled in July by vote of the Burke Centre Conservancy's board of trustees. According to the festival website, the event draws an estimated 8,000 to 12,000 people each year. The variety of activities offered by the festival have included an arts and crafts show, amusement rides, Midway-style games, food vendors, interactive wildlife shows, pony rides, community booths and more.

"Due to ever-changing conditions and regulations related to the COVID-19 global pandemic, it would be impossible to make the Festival happen this year," stated the Burke Centre Festival Facebook page.
