Springfield Man Charged After Stealing Car, Hitting Pedestrian: Police

A Springfield man was charged with grand larceny after he stole a car from a gas station on Braddock Road and then ran into a pedestrian.

FAIRFAX, VA — A Springfield man was charged with grand larceny after he stole a car from a gas station on Braddock Road on June 25 and then ran into a pedestrian after Fairfax County Police attempted to stop him.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, a person was at a gas pump when the suspect got into the car and drove off. The victim, who followed his stolen car with a bystander, provided updates to Fairfax County Police of his car’s location.

Police officers eventually spotted the car and tried to stop it. But the suspect, Dahsaan Fields, 20, sped off before losing control of the car and hitting a pedestrian, police said. The BMW 330CI became disabled after Fields crashed it in the 10000 block of Braddock Road.

Fields ran away until officers found him and took him into custody nearby, according to police. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Fields was charged with grand larceny and eluding.
