Suspicious Burke Woman's Death: Cuts, Blood Found

Update: Police are investigating the death of a 64-year-old Burke woman, who was found with blood and cuts.

(Updated 3:07 p.m. July 17) BURKE, VA—Fairfax County Police continue to investigate the suspicious death of a 64-year-old woman in Burke Tuesday, July 11.

Around 5:30 a.m., police responded to a family member's report of the unresponsive woman in her home at the 9100 block of Bloom Court. The woman has been identified as Fathia Choukri and was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to NBC Washington, detectives found blood, cuts and other signs of "foul play." Police are looking at evidence from her home, which includes computers, a bathrobe and bubble wrap.

Detectives found suspicious circumstances in an initial investigation of the death but have not said whether it was a homicide. The county's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death in an autopsy. No further information has been released as of Tuesday, July 17.
