Threats To Kill People At Springfield Mosque Lead To Charges

Police say he threatened to kill anyone who went inside the mosque.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—A man is facing nine charges after threatening to kill people at a Springfield mosque Sunday night, police say.

Police were called to the Masjid Noor Mosque at 8608 Pohick Road where the man allegedly threatened to kill anyone he saw and refused to let people inside. Later investigations revealed he forced people to leave that were inside.

He also reportedly struck three parked cars with his own. One of the cars was occupied, leading the person inside to call 911.

As police arrived, the man sped in his car towards the officer before jumping out of the car and blocking the road. He began cursing and screaming at the officer before being arrested. No one was hurt during the incident.

Zulqarnain Khan, 22, was charged with three counts of abduction, one count of attempted malicious wounding and one count of destruction of property, which are all felonies. Misdemeanor charges included three counts of misdemeanor destruction of property and one count of disorderly conduct. He is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
