Traditional Okinawan Karate coming to Burke in July

You seldom have the opportunity to practice the proven self-defense techniques of Okinawan Karate. You can learn grown-up karate in Burke

Learn the proven self-defense applications of the karate techniques you learned as a child, or just start from scratch! This is the grown-up karate U.S. Government agents use to reduce their risks when their weapons fail, or when they have no other weapons. You soon find that size, shape and gender are no issue in self defense. You can reduce stress, increase self-control and discipline while getting in shape and having fun, too through adult-focused Okinawan Karate! When was the last time you had fun doing something for you?

Our focus on your safety and security means you finish each class with a new awareness of self-defense survival and increases your confidence and family protection skills. Plus you learn to laugh more often at the joys of life.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone who suddenly enters a violent encounter extricate themselves with little to no injury. Thus, our classes are cooperative in nature as we all learn together, rather than competing for a trophy to determine who is best in class.

Usually, if you know karate, you won’t ever need to use it. The reverse is also true.

We don’t advertise children’s classes because only mentally mature youngsters are permitted to join and then only after an interview with the head instructor and often accompanied by an adult in class. If your child wants to compete or wants a trophy there are plenty of schools in the area to accommodate his/her desires. If you want a fun, stress-free activity to do with your child many of our members find that this style of karate is perfect for them.

Accotnik Unitarian Universalist Church

10125 Lake Haven Court

Burke, VA 22015

Our instructor has over 40 years of karate experience teaching U.S. Government agents, security personnel, foreign security operatives and people just like you. He is a direct student of Okinawan Grand Master Seikichi Iha, 10th Degree, one of the most senior Okinawan karate practitioners in the world.
