The $37 million project would fix chronic building issues, add community space, and advance a broader vision for a more walkable, mixed-use Centreville.
3. Crossing guards return to Fairfax County high schools after student struck near South Lakes (wusa9.com) — Crossing guards and police officers are being temporarily restored at 11 Fairfax County high school locations, including those serving Centreville High, while officials reassess pedestrian safety after a student was struck near South Lakes High. The move follows budget cuts that removed high school crossing guards, and county leaders now say they'll study long-term fixes like infrastructure changes and better traffic enforcement around schools.
4. All lanes on I-66 East closed due to early morning crash near Centreville (dcnewsnow.com) — Morning drivers from Centreville faced major delays after a crash shut down all eastbound lanes of I-66 near Exit 53, backing traffic up about five miles. First responders were on scene and officials urged commuters to seek alternate routes while they worked to clear the highway and determine whether anyone was injured.
