Woman In Wheelchair Killed In Fairfax County Crash: Police

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A woman using a mobility wheelchair died after she was struck by a vehicle on Route 50 in Fairfax County, according to police.

The crash occurred Friday at the intersection of Route 50 and Plaza Lane in the Greenbriar area, police said in a statement. According to officials, the woman was struck by a car and taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and was not injured, police said.

Detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating.

Police have not released the woman's identity or additional details about what led to the crash.
