• Alignment changes announced for VHSL regions (radfordnewsjournal.com) — Christiansburg High School's athletic teams will soon compete in an expanded Class 3 Region D, adding George Washington and Mecklenburg County to a 14-school lineup. The VHSL realignment, also affecting nearby schools like Blacksburg, Radford, and Eastern Montgomery, will take effect next year and run through the 2030–31 school year, reshaping regional rivalries and travel.
• Brown takes Democratic nomination for sheriff (montcova.com) — A longtime Christiansburg Police Department lieutenant, Tim Brown, has secured the Democratic nomination for Montgomery County sheriff and will face Republican Robert Page in November. Brown, who has spent over 26 years with CPD in multiple leadership roles, is running in a special election to complete retiring Sheriff Hank Partin's term, with the winner needing to run again next year.
