Danville launches new programs to help with housing, rental costs (wset.com) — Danville residents struggling with upfront housing costs can now apply for new city programs offering up to $5,000 in down payment help and $500 toward rental deposits. Aimed at moderate-income households, the assistance is limited to properties within city limits, awarded first-qualified, first-served, and includes a forgivable, no-interest loan option for homebuyers.
   

2. Danville's Police Chief Yates Offers Information on 'Solicitor License Reminder' and 'Junior Citizens Police Academy' (vermilioncountyfirst.com) — Danville residents are being reminded that door-to-door solicitors inside city limits must have a valid license, after police noticed no active vendor permits for early September. Police Chief Christopher Yates also urges local teens in grades 7–12 to quickly apply for the Junior Citizens Police Academy, running October 1 through November 19, via the department's Facebook page.
   

3. City of Danville Names Drayton as Director of Economic Development and Tourism (wakg.com) — Danville has hired Kelly Drayton as its new director of Economic Development and Tourism, starting December 1, to steer business growth and visitor promotion. City leaders say her experience in regional partnerships and recovery work will help sustain Danville's revitalization, attract and retain employers, and strengthen tourism across Southside Virginia.
   

4. Community Foundation of the Dan River Region Celebrating 30th Anniversary (wakg.com) — A Danville-based charitable foundation is marking 30 years of awarding local grants and scholarships, now managing an impressive $98 million in assets. Residents in Danville and surrounding counties are encouraged to share how its support has impacted them and can contact the foundation on Loyal Street or online to explore starting or contributing to funds.
   

5. Local Radio's Future May Depend On Being More Local, Not Less (tvrev.com) — A radio owner whose group includes two Danville stations explains why hyper-local programming—like obituaries, high school sports, and longtime morning hosts—still keeps small-market radio profitable in southern Virginia.
