UPDATE: AFD Responds to Two-Alarm Fire on Adams Avenue
Two examined for smoke inhalation, one taken to hospital
4:25 p.m. update — A representative from the Alexandria Fire Department said two patients were examined for smoke inhalation and one was taken to the hospital.
The fire, which has been put out, was confined to one room on the second floor of the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Alexandria Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire around 3:15 p.m. Thursday on the 200 block of Adams Avenue.

According to a neighbor, no injuries were reported. The elderly couple that lives in the home made it out safely. The neighbor said a hairdryer was potentially to blame for the blaze.
Firefighters were seen opening windows on the second level of the home at 212 Adams Avenue. Smoke was billowing out of one of the windows.
The block was shutdown so fire trucks could reach hydrants.
