Alexandria Police Investigating Two Incidents at BB&T Banks

At around 1:17 p.m. Friday, two suspects entered the lobby of the BB&T on S. Van Dorn Street. One of the suspects approached a teller and demanded cash. When the teller went to retrieve the cash, both suspects fled.

The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, late teens to early 20s. He was seen wearing a white, hooded sweatshirt with tan shorts. The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s. He was seen wearing a red hoodie and blue jeans. Both were last seen running south through the parking lot of Van Dorn Plaza toward the rear of a nearby Safeway grocery store.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, a black male suspect entered the BB&T on S. Washington Street and approached a teller. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. The teller relinquished an undisclosed amount of cash and then the suspect fled the bank. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as being in his late 30s or early 40s and was last seen wearing a light blue shirt, blue jeans and a dark baseball cap. The suspect was last seen “possibly entering a dark vehicle that was parked in the 700 block of Duke Street.”

Anyone with information about either case is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703-746-6711. Detectives remind residents they can remain anonymous.
