The story traces her lifelong roots in Del Ray, from childhood on East Del Ray Avenue to decades of community service and music, and invites neighbors to stop by this month to help mark her milestone.
• These Northern Virginia Bars Are Going All Out for Halloween (thelocalgirl.com) — Del Ray's Nightmare on the Avenue pop-up bar is back with a new "Del Ray Asylum" horror theme, spooky cocktails, and a playful food menu, plus hours that welcome teens and tweens until 8 p.m. It's one of several Northern Virginia Halloween pop-up bars running through October, including themed spots in Alexandria, Reston, Ashburn, Sterling, and Fairfax.
