A look at recent crime in the Del Ray area

The following information came from the Alexandria Police Department via www.crimereports.com.

April 1 — A juvenile was walking to school from the Metro and was stopped on the 1000 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue by an unidentified juvenile who asked the victim where he was going and if he wanted to fight. The unidentified juvenile then punched the victim in the chin before the victim ran off. The report was filed at 11:18 a.m. Case is pending.

April 2 — An assault occurred at 12:34 a.m. on the 100 block of Leadbeater Street between two or more people who had a prior relationship. Case is pending.

April 3 — An arrest was made at 9:07 p.m. for an assault that occurred on the first block of Leadbeater Street.

April 4 — A victim’s parked, unlocked and running vehicle was reported stolen at 8:29 a.m. from in front of an apartment building on the first block of W. Nelson Avenue he was visiting.

April 4 — A victim reported at 9:37 a.m. that an unknown suspect or suspects stole an ornamental gnome from the front door of her residence on the 1600 block of Preston Road. Case is pending.

April 4 — The mother of a victim reported at 6:37 p.m. that her son was attacked and punched by two subjects as the victim was walking from the school to the store on the 1000 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue. Case is open.

April 5 — At 9:34 a.m., it was reported that unknown suspects entered a victim’s two unlocked vehicles parked on the 700 block of Catts Tavern Drive and stole a GPS unit and coins. Case is pending.

April 5 — Two packages were reported stolen at 11:28 a.m. from the front door of a victim’s residence on the 400 block of E. Nelson Avenue. Case is pending.

April 5 — A victim reported at 12:02 p.m. that unknown suspects stole both license plates from his vehicle parked near the corner of Sycamore Street and W. Mt. Ida Avenue. Case is pending.

April 5 — A bicycle left unattended and unlocked outside a store on the 400 block of E. Braddock Road was reported stolen at 8:34 p.m. Case is open.

April 6 — An arrest was made for fraud at 6:35 p.m. on the 3700 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue.

April 7 — A victim’s 2007 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle was reported stolen at 7:18 a.m. on the first block of E. Reed Avenue. Case is pending.

April 7 — A victim’s 1998 Dodge Caravan was reported stolen at 11:37 a.m. on the 3400 block of Commonwealth Avenue. Case is pending.

April 7 — An assault between two or more people who had a prior relationship or were known to each other was reported at 10:03 p.m. on the 3700 block of Edison Street. Case is pending.

April 7 — It was reported at 9:31 p.m. that an unknown suspect damaged the windows of a victim’s vehicle on the 3600 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. Case is pending.

April 8 — A victim’s vehicle was reported stolen at 9:59 a.m. from his place of employment on the 3100 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. Case is pending.

April 8 — A theft was reported at 1:08 p.m. on the 100 block of Callahan Drive. Case is pending.

April 8 — A theft was reported at 8:04 p.m. on the 500 block of E. Braddock Road. Case is open.

April 9 — A victim was awakened by glass-breaking noises and witnessed an unknown suspect kicking in the front door of her residence on the 200 block of North View Terrace. As the victim yelled at the male suspect, he turned and ran from the scene. The suspect was chased by a neighbor, but was lost. The attempted burglary was reported at 12:39 p.m. Case is pending.

April 9 — At 2:32 p.m., a victim reported that all four of her tires and rims were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in a garage on the 100 block of Luna Park Drive. Case is pending.

April 9 — At 8:58 p.m., an assault between two or more people who had a prior relationship was reported on the 3700 block of Mark Drive. Case is pending.

April 10 — A woman reported at 5:52 p.m. that she inadvertently left her purse at the soccer field on the 4100 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue. When she went to retrieve the purse, it was gone. Case is pending.

April 10 — At 6:36 p.m., a female victim reported her iPod missing after a company technician installed a television at her house on the 400 block of Clifford Avenue. The technician denies taking the iPod. Case is open.

April 10 — An assault between two or more people who had a prior relationship or were known to each other was reported at 8:58 p.m. on the 3700 block of Mark Drive. Case is pending.

April 14 — At 8:55 a.m., a victim reported that an unknown suspect stole her new lawnmower from her yard on the 200 block of Hume Avenue. A check by police found the lawnmower in a neighbor's yard. An arrest was made.

April 14 — A theft was reported at 1:01 p.m. on the 3500 block of Cameron Mills Road.

April 14 — A victim reported at 6:42 p.m. that two unknown subjects stopped him as he dismounted his bicycle near the corner of Herbert Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue and robbed him of his gold watch, bracelet and ring. Case is open.

April 17 — A neighbor witnessed an unknown juvenile subject attempting to pry open doors of a house at 3 p.m. on the 100 block of Hume Avenue. No entry was made and subject walked away. The police were called and found the subject walking in the area and took him into custody. The subject was released to his father.

April 18 — At 3:23 p.m., an assault between two or more people who had a prior relationship was reported on the 3100 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue. Case is pending.

April 19 — At 11:10 a.m., a victim reported that an unknown suspect or suspects stole a UPS-delivered package from the front porch of victim's residence on the 1600 block of Hunting Creek Drive. Case is pending.
