Updated: Female Assaulted in Rosemont

Police say it is too early in the investigation to determine if incident is related to Nov. 21 sexual assault in Del Ray.

11:04 a.m. update — A female was assaulted around 9:10 p.m. Thursday on her way home from work on Little Street near the intersection with E. Maple Avenue, acorrding to a release from the Alexandria Police Department.

The victim was was grabbed from behind by a man who pushed her to the ground and inappropriately touched her. The victim screamed and the suspect fled on foot.

The male suspect, who was last seen running toward Walnut Street, is described as a male of unknown race, 25 to 30 years old and clean shaven. He is approximately 5-foot-8 to 5-10. He was seen wearing a dark jacket and a knit cap with a red stripe.

Police said it is too early to determine if Thursday's incident is related to the Nov. 21 sexual assault of a female jogger on E. Del Ray Avenue.

A woman was “grabbed and nearly sexually assaulted” in the 100 block of E. Maple Street in Rosemont around 9 p.m. Thursday, according to News Channel 8.

According to a Friday morning newscast, the victim told police the attacker threw her to the ground. News Channel 8 said there is only “a vague description” of the suspect.

The Alexandria Police Department did not immediately return request for comment Friday morning. 

On Nov. 21, in the 200 block of E. Del Ray Avenue.

The jogger was grabbed from behind and inappropriately touched. The victim then screamed and was pushed to the ground by the suspect, who fled on foot.

The male suspect in that incident was described as being of unknown race and was wearing a black puffy jacket and a black skullcap with dark pants.
