Police Arrest Man in Sexual Battery Case on Mt. Vernon Avenue

Jonathan Koonce, 31, is facing three charges of sexual battery and one count of providing false information to avoid prosecution.

Alexandria Police arrested a man accused of committing sexual battery on July 5 in the 3400 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue.

The man entered a business and rubbed his groin area against a 45-year-old woman, police said. The suspect then fled the scene before officers arrived, but was later found after police searched the immediate area.

Jonathan Koonce, 31, of no fixed address, was charged with sexual battery, providing false information to avoid prosecution.

During an investigation into the incident, detectives determined Koonce had allegedly exposed himself earlier on July 5 at another business in the same block of Mt. Vernon Avenue and rubbed his genitals against two women. He was later charged with two additional counts of sexual battery.

Police believe Koonce may be responsible for other similar cases in the area. An investigation is ongoing. Police offered no description of Koonce.
