Alexandria Police and Fire personnel reported to a flipped Toyota Camry around 11 p.m. Wednesday that appeared to have struck a tree in the 300 block of E. Duncan Avenue.

An eyewitness said he saw a female driver walk out of the vehicle under her own power. She was later attended to by medical personnel and taken from the scene in an ambulance.

Eyewitnesses said the driver was the only person in the vehicle.

A large tree growing out of the sidewalk median had a noticeable scratch in its trunk. The tree angles slightly into the roadway.

“This is just mindboggling,” said David Harr, a resident on nearby Dewitt Avenue. “For it to just flip like this.”

Harr said he saw a second female come up to the vehicle who appeared to know the driver. She later left in the ambulance with the driver.

The speed limit on Duncan Avenue is 25 mph.
