Police Respond to Incident Near Mt. Vernon Avenue 7-Eleven

Female seen being pulled into boyfriend's car against her will.

A female was seen being forced against her will into her boyfriend’s car near the in the 2100 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue around 7 p.m. Friday, but the couple returned to the scene following a bevy of 911 calls.

An Alexandria Police spokesperson later said no charges were expected in the incident.

The female let out “blood-curdling” screams of help from her boyfriend’s vehicle as a light-colored Honda Accord traveled north on Mt. Vernon Avenue and made a right onto E. Del Ray Avenue, according to several eyewitnesses.

One eyewitness, who asked thier name not be used, was standing outside when the incident occurred. The eyewitness said a black woman attempted to exit the vehicle from the passenger-side door as it made its turn onto E. Del Ray Avenue.  

“She almost made a jump,” said the eyewitness, who followed the car on foot down E. Del Ray Avenue.

The incident drew a large police presence to The Avenue on a busy Friday evening. Many people strolling down Mt. Vernon Avenue and sitting outside were startled by the sound of screams.
