
Two Alexandria residents were arrested in connection to an incident involving gunfire that occurred last week near the intersection of Kennedy Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue.
According to a police spokesperson, an Alexandria juvenile was taken into custody and charged with two counts of attempted felonious assault, two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Andy Melendez, 18, was also arrested and charged with two counts of attempted malicious wounding.

On Aug. 3, at Mt. Vernon Avenue and Kennedy Street near Warwick Village and Del Ray Central apartment complex sometime between 8 and 9 p.m.
No injuries were reported and, according to the police, the suspect and the victim knew each other.
