• The Drought Continues (thenews-gazette.com) — Farmers in and around East Lexington are still facing serious drought, but federal cost-share help is available through the USDA Emergency Conservation Program for failed water sources in Rockbridge and Bath counties. Local producers can contact the Lexington USDA Service Center or Rockbridge Extension Office, and are invited to an Oct. 12 drought management meeting at Steeles Tavern covering feeding strategies and hay planning.
• RC Netters Defeat Cougars (thenews-gazette.com) — Rockbridge County High School's volleyball team, which serves families around East Lexington, picked up a straight-sets road win over Stuarts Draft, improving to 4-6 overall. The Wildcats now return home to host Staunton and Buffalo Gap before visiting Wilson Memorial, with junior varsity matches starting at 6 p.m. on both upcoming game nights.
