Judge dismisses lawsuit alleging FCPS retaliated against teacher for abortion claims - Judge dismisses lawsuit alleging FCPS retaliated against teacher for abortion claims (ffxnow.com) — A federal judge has dismissed a Centreville High School teacher’s lawsuit accusing Fairfax County Public Schools of retaliation after she raised concerns about staff allegedly helping minors obtain abortions. The judge found she hadn’t plausibly shown whistleblower retaliation, while related investigations by federal and state authorities into the underlying allegations are still ongoing.    

2. Released Prisoner Steals Truck From Wolf Trap, Drives To New York, Buys Some Weed: Police (patch.com) — A man recently released from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center is accused of stealing a National Park Service pickup from nearby Wolf Trap and driving it to New York, where police later recovered the truck. The case, which began with an earlier vehicle pursuit in Fairfax County, has led to federal charges in the Eastern District of Virginia, with a trial still pending.    

3. Virginia asks U.S. Supreme Court to intervene on congressional map that gives Democrats a boost (deseret.com) — Virginia’s ongoing fight over a new congressional map includes local voters who recently cast ballots in a redistricting referendum at Fairfax Government Center. State Democrats are now asking the U.S. Supreme Court to let the map stand for this year’s midterms, arguing the Virginia Supreme Court misapplied constitutional and federal election timing rules.    

4. Soros-backed prosecutor hit with rebuke after dismissing probe as Trump ‘partisan attacks': ‘Hey scumbag' (1010wcsi.com) — Fairfax County’s elected prosecutor Steve Descano faces a federal civil-rights investigation into whether his office’s handling of cases involving undocumented immigrants has endangered public safety locally. Critics and supporters are clashing publicly as Congress prepares a hearing focused on Fairfax County’s immigration-related policies and their impact on crime victims.
