This NoVA City Had the Highest Recent Population Growth in Virginia (northernvirginiamag.com) — Fairfax City is leading Virginia in recent population growth, jumping nearly 11% between 2020 and 2025 as new high-density housing comes online. City leaders say the boom underscores the need to carefully plan for school capacity, infrastructure, and housing affordability as more residents choose to call Fairfax home.    

2. Fairfax City Council Explores Realigning Wilcoxin Trail Extension To Draper Drive (patch.com) — Fairfax City is moving ahead with a feasibility study to realign the Wilcoxon Trail extension to Draper Drive, potentially changing sidewalks, bike facilities, and parking along the corridor. The project uses existing Smart Scale funding and will include fall public outreach with nearby residents and businesses before council decides whether to proceed.

The FY 2027 budget boosts funding for invasive species removal, native plantings along the W&OD Trail, staff pay, and expanded programs across Northern Virginia, including more support for Title I school field trips.    

5. James Walkinshaw Democratic Party's Candidate In Nov. 3 Election (patch.com) — Voters in Fairfax will see incumbent U.S. Rep. James Walkinshaw on the November 3 ballot as the Democratic nominee for Virginia’s 11th Congressional District. With no primary challenger and one declared Republican opponent, the race is now set while independents still have time to qualify.
