β’ Pedestrian killed in seventh fatal crash on Old Keene Mill Road in three years (ffxnow.com) β A pedestrian was killed Sunday night in a hit-and-run at Old Keene Mill Road and Backlick Road in Springfield, marking the seventh fatal crash on that corridor in three years. Fairfax County police say the driver, believed to be in a white SUV, fled the scene, and eastbound lanes were temporarily closed for investigation. This is at least the 17th pedestrian death in the county this year.

Va. after 'sustained' rain, state says (ffxnow.com) β Fairfax County's months-long drought warning has been downgraded to a drought watch after several weeks of steady rain, though groundwater levels remain a concern. Local leaders are coordinating regionally on Potomac River water supplies while Fairfax Water studies backup drinking water sources. Residents are still urged to conserve voluntarily as the state monitors conditions.
