Man Arrested For Waving Machete In Fairfax City Served With Outstanding Warrant

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax police arrested a 54-year-old man at Hilltop Shopping Center on Friday after officers responded to a reported weapons violation at the Main Street plaza.

Officers were called to Hilltop Shopping Center, 11103 Main St., just before 10:30 a.m. to investigate the report of tan unknown male subject was waving a machete. Officers located the man at the shopping center and began an investigation.

Investigators determined that the man, identified as Virgil Snyder of an undetermined address, was under the influence, according to police. Snyder was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Snyder was charged with being drunk in public, disorderly conduct, and obstructing justice.

Snyder was arraigned in Fairfax City General District Court on Monday morning and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on June 2, according to court records. He was then held without bond.

City police also served Snyder with an outstanding warrant out of Prince William County for being a person violating a condition of bail for release as set by a judge, according to court documents.
