FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax City voters will have an opportunity Wednesday to meet candidates running for mayor, City Council and School Board ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.
The free, nonpartisan candidate event will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Katherine Johnson Middle School auditorium, 3801 Jermantown Road.
Candidates for mayor and City Council who accepted invitations to participate will be introduced at the beginning of the program. Each will have two minutes to deliver an opening statement to attendees.
Following the opening program, voters will have time to meet and speak individually with participating candidates, ask questions and discuss issues affecting Fairfax City.
The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area and the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce. The event flyer also lists several community organizations as co-sponsors.
The event comes after early voting began Sept. 18 in Fairfax City. The Nov. 3 ballot includes races for Fairfax City mayor, City Council and School Board, along with federal offices, proposed state constitutional amendments and a city retail sales tax referendum.
Early in-person voting continues through Oct. 31 at Fairfax City Hall. Election Day polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 3.
