Officers responded to Tobacco King shortly after 11 p.m. to investigate a report of vandalism.

The person who reported the incident told police that a man had broken the glass in the business's front door, possibly while attempting to enter the store.

Police said the suspect later returned to the business, where officers detained him. During their investigation, officers discovered that he possessed several tools they believed could be used to commit burglaries.

The following morning, officers responded around 7:25 a.m. to a burglary report at Sunoco.

The person reporting the incident told police that the store's front door glass had been broken and money and cigarettes were missing.

Investigators determined that the suspect was the same person involved in an earlier attempted burglary, according to police.

Hamilton was subsequently charged with burglary in connection with the Sunoco incident.

Court Records Show Other Pending Charges

A review of Virginia's online court records shows that Hamilton also faces felony charges in Fairfax County General District Court stemming from alleged offenses earlier in 2026.

Court records identify charges associated with an Oct. 22 incident that include unlawful entry of a structure, destruction of property, possession of burglary tools, grand larceny involving property valued at $1,000 or more, and unlawfully wearing a mask in certain places.

Those charges were filed last Wednesday, with Hamilton's arrest date listed as Oct. 27.

The court scheduled a preliminary hearing for Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. Records indicate Hamilton was represented by a public defender and was in custody.

Hamilton also faces pending felony charges associated with incidents on June 13 and June 16, including unlawful entry of a structure and attempted unlawful entry. Those cases are also scheduled for preliminary hearings Dec. 1.

Separately, Fairfax City General District Court records show that Hamilton was charged with trespassing and petit larceny in connection with a July 22 incident.

A show-cause proceeding alleging failure to appear in connection with a misdemeanor case was filed Oct. 20.

The trespassing, petit larceny and failure-to-appear matters are scheduled for hearings Dec. 15 at 9:30 a.m.

Court records also show that Hamilton had a misdemeanor property destruction charge stemming from January 2025, but prosecutors declined to pursue the charge, on July 17, 2025.

Hamilton has not been convicted of the pending charges described in this story. The allegations remain subject to court proceedings.
