• Third lane open on Route 123 northbound from Chapel Road to Fairfax County Parkway (virginia.gov) — If you drive Route 123 through Fairfax Station, you now have a third northbound lane between Chapel Road and the Fairfax County Parkway bridge, easing a notorious bottleneck. This is part of a $126 million project widening Fairfax County Parkway, adding shared-use paths, safer medians, and new turn lanes, with full completion expected in mid-2027.
   

• People and Places - Week of August 28. 2026 (fairfaxtimes.com) — Pedestrians in Fairfax Station now have a safer way to cross Silverbrook Road at Crosspointe Drive, with new crosswalks, curb ramps, and a refuge island improving access to Silverbrook Elementary and the Crosspointe Swim and Racquet Club. The wider roundup also highlights new Fairfax County human services leadership, a countywide free tree program, and several regional student and community honors that may touch Fairfax Station families.
