Citizens for a Better City wants protections for existing affordable units, more racial and economic diversity, and clear public engagement if tax dollars are used. A city committee is interviewing developers this week before recommending a partner to the City Council.
• F.C. Council Names Seth Hendler-Voss New City Manager (fcnp.com) — Falls Church has selected Seth Hendler-Voss as its next city manager, succeeding longtime leader Wyatt Shields this September. Hendler-Voss brings two decades of public-sector experience in Virginia and the Southeast, with a focus on economic development, parks, housing, and infrastructure. City leaders say he'll prioritize preserving Falls Church's character while improving quality of life and supporting local businesses.
• In the Spotlight: A is for Apples (bluebookservices.com) — A Falls Church-based trade group, USApple, is warning that this year's national apple crop will likely be smaller than last year, largely due to weather. Their new outlook report details regional impacts, shifting popular varieties, rising grower costs, and ongoing labor challenges, while industry leaders still expect plenty of high-quality apples on shelves this fall.
