FALLS CHURCH, VA — Federal immigration officers arrested a Guatemalan man in Falls Church after he was convicted of possessing child sexual abuse material in Arlington County, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Luis Antonio Alejandro Ramos was arrested by officers with ICE's Washington, D.C., field office on Sept. 7. He remains in federal custody pending the outcome of immigration removal proceedings, the agency said.
Alejandro Ramos was previously arrested by Arlington County authorities on Feb. 28, 2025, and charged with felony possession of child pornography, according to ICE.
On Sept. 12, 2025, Arlington Circuit Court convicted Alejandro Ramos and sentenced him to three years in prison. The court suspended the entire sentence and ordered three years of supervised probation.
ICE said Alejandro Ramos entered the United States without inspection or admission by immigration authorities. The agency did not specify when or where he entered the country.
"Luis Antonio Alejandro-Ramos has a conviction for possessing child sexual abuse material," said Robert Guadian, director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Washington, D.C. He added the agency considers individuals convicted of such offenses a priority for immigration enforcement.
ICE officers took Alejandro Ramos into custody in Falls Church and initiated removal proceedings to determine whether he will be deported.
The agency did not provide additional details about the circumstances of his arrest or when his immigration case might be resolved.
