Falls Church mainstay Four Provinces may soon change hands to a newly formed investment group that includes former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
According to the Falls Church News-Press, the group has filed to purchase an existing business and a state liquor license tied to the West Broad Street pub.
McAuliffe was one of three directors named in the filing, and a source "close to the matter" told the News-Press that he is a lead investor. The same source told the paper that current owner Colm Dillon will remain involved in the restaurant after the sale.
The investment firm, Wicklow Entertainment Team LLC, is based in Alexandria and has raised $800,000 in equity from 27 investors, according to the filing reviewed by the News-Press.
