1 Victim Injured In Afternoon Shooting In Fredericksburg; Suspects Remain At Large
Fredericksburg police seek two suspects following a shooting Thursday on Dunning Mills Road that injured one victim.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured and caused property damage in the 1100 block of Dunning Mills Road on Thursday afternoon.
The Fredericksburg E-911 Center received several reports of shots fired at approximately 2:45 p.m. Initial reports indicate that an altercation occurred before multiple gunshots were heard.
One victim, who has not been identified, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The individual was reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital.

Investigators recovered several cartridge casings at the scene and received reports of property damage linked to the gunfire.
The Fredericksburg Police Department said that one of the male suspects was seen wearing a black hoodie, and the second was wearing a white hoodie. According to police, the pair fled the area toward Route 1 in a dark gray Hyundai sedan.

The Fredericksburg Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted with the initial response.
While police were investigating the scene of the shooting on Thursday afternoon, Lafayette and Gladys West elementary schools were placed on lockdown. They later reopened when given the all clear.
Detectives are currently seeking security camera footage recorded between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on the day of the incident. Anyone with information or footage is urged to contact Detective Dobson at 540-373-3122, ext. 5735.
