116 MPH Police Chase In Stafford Ends In Arrest: Sheriff's Office
The Stafford County Sheriff's Office said a police chase reached speeds of 116 miles per hour on Monday evening.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A police chase in Stafford County reached speeds of 116 miles per hour on Monday, according to the sheriff's office. The pursuit ended in an arrest without any injuries or property damage, police said.
The pursuit began around 6:40 p.m. on Monday, according to a report from the sheriff's office. Deputies said they were travelling southbound on Route 1 when a grey Scion without tags pass them at a high speed.
Authorities said the deputies attempted a traffic stop when the Scion reached a speed of 77 miles per hour in the 45 miles per hour zone. The Scion did not stop and continued through multiple red lights, police said.

Deputies chased the vehicle onto Butler Road, Chatham Heights Road and Kings Highway. Police claimed that the driver of the Scion passed other vehicles on the shoulder and crossed double yellow lines.
On Kings Highway, the chase reached speeds of 116 miles per hour, the sheriff's office said. A deputy pulled his car in front of the Scion to perform a rolling road block, and the driver pulled over and surrendered.

Authorities identified the driver of the Scion as Daniel Moore, a 24-year-old man from King George. He is charged with felony eluding, driving suspended, reckless driving, no insurance, no registration and six counts of failure to obey a traffic light. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
