19-Year-Old Dies In Single-Vehicle Crash In Spotsylvania: Police
The Virginia State Police said charges are pending in the crash, which occurred just before 11 p.m. on Dec. 30.
SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — A late-night crash in Spotsylvania County killed a passenger and injured the driver after the car ran off the side of the road and collided with a tree. The Virginia State Police said charges are pending in the single-vehicle crash, which occurred just before 11 p.m. on Monday on Route 605 near Hams Ford Road.
Ricardo I. Duron, 20, of Fredericksburg, was driving a 2013 Volkswagen GTI west on Route 605 when he lost control of the car. Duron suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Mary Washington Hospital. Duron was wearing a seatbelt.
The passenger, Patrick P. J. Giannone, 19, of Fredericksburg, died at the scene as a result of his injuries from the crash. Giannone was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation. The Virginia State Police's Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation. Spotsylvania Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene of the accident to assist with the crash site and the victims.
