2 Dead After Bucket Truck Crash In Spotsylvania: Police
2 people died on Thursday as a result of injuries they suffered in a crash involving a bucket truck in Spotsylvania County, police said.
SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — Two people from Spotsylvania, Larry and Peggy Proffitt, died on Thursday after a crash at the intersection of Bragg Road and Plank Road. The crash involved four vehicles, including a bucket truck, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.
The crash occurred around 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, police said. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found four vehicles, including a bucket truck, involved in a crash.
Investigators determined that the truck was travelling eastbound on Plank Road. When it entered the intersection, it struck a Ford Fusion, police said.

The bucket truck and the Ford Fusion then collided with a pair of Toyota trucks that were in the westbound turn lane of Plank Road, according to a report from the sheriff's office. The bucket truck then overturned in the median.
The occupants of the Ford Fusion, who were later identified as the Proffitts, were taken to a nearby hospital. Peggy Proffitt, who was 76 years old, died as a result of her injuries at the Mary Washington Hospital. Larry Proffitt, who was 75 years old, was taken by helicopter to VCU Medical Center. He died as a result of his injuries later on Thursday evening, authorities said.

A person in one of the Toyota trucks was taken to an area hospital, received treatment, and was released. The two occupants of the bucket truck "denied injury," the sheriff's office wrote in their report.
No charges have been announced in connection with the crash, and the incident is still being investigated.
