20 Violations At One Place: Fredericksburg Restaurant Inspections

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Rappahannock Area Health District officials recently inspected food preparation and storage in the Fredericksburg area. "In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," according to Virginia Department of Health's website.

Violations noted below — such as the 20 by Mick's Restaurant & Sports Lounge, bringing its total to 143 in four visits starting Dec. 13 — involve those issues that would typically require a reinspection if not corrected or those that are more likely than other violations to contribute to food contamination. They're divided into two categories:

Priority Observations are those violations such as improper cooking, reheating, cooling, or handwashing. These violations are known to cause foodborne illnesses. Uncorrected priority observations usually result in a re-inspection.

Critical violations are are food regulation violations which, if left uncorrected, are more likely than other violations to directly contribute to food contamination, illness, or environmental degradation.
