FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A $2,000 donation a local business will help the Fredericksburg Police Department buy a ballistic vest for one of its four-legged officers, according to authorities.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Kasper Mechanical Heating and Air Conditioning for their generous $2,000 donation to the Fredericksburg Police Department in support of K9 Rudi,” the department said in the statement. “This contribution will help provide a life-saving ballistic vest for Rudi, a highly trained German Shepherd who works alongside his handler, Officer Froman, to keep our community safe each and every day.”

The department thanked the company for "standing behind our officers, both two-legged and four-legged, and helping us continue to serve Fredericksburg,” the statement said.
